At 11.8 cm tall and extending outwards at nearly right angles to a shorter, wider prismatic Elbaite crystal, this gemmy bi-coloured strawberry-red to teal blue-green tourmaline crystal is spectacular. Somewhat understandably given its delicate form, it has 4 repairs and 3 restorations, but when tourmalines get this spectacular such repairs are considered normal and are undertaken in such a professional manner that they are barely visible. Both crystals are fully terminated and exceptionally high quality with extreme intensity of colour. The lower crystal is dominated by strawberry-red with a short but intense teal blue-green flat pinacoid termination. The main crystal has a narrower width relative to its length and presents a short strawberry-red lower section and main teal blue-green body with an orange-pink sloping pyramidal tip. Minor pale lilac coloured Lepidolite mica nestles around a small section of the lower tourmaline crystal. This dramatic Coronel Murta tourmaline specimen comes with a custom-made Sunnywood acryllic display stand.
