A rare and historic specimen featuring micro crystals of calomel nestled in small pockets throughout the matrix and associated with rich red cinnabar, creating an appealing and classic mercury mineral association. The calomel occurs as delicate crystalline coatings and aggregates within cavities, offering strong magnification interest, while the cinnabar provides vivid color contrast. The specimen is accompanied by an antique label dating to the early 20th century, as shown at the end of the video, adding important provenance and collector value. The Avala mining area near Belgrade is a historic mercury locality known primarily for cinnabar mineralization, with associated secondary mercury minerals such as calomel occurring in oxidation zones, making pieces from this locality both scientifically and historically significant.
