Tucson, Arizona, USAColcerrow quarry is a famous old Cornish 'Apatite' locality, but specimens are now rarely seen. This richly crystallized miniature specimen was probably originally collected by Richard Barstow, because it was recorded as sold by him in 1983 on A.K. Borland's handwritten label that accompanies it. It is a granite pegmatite consisting of large Orthoclase feldspar crystals with inclusions of Schorl. However, it is the surface coating of very many small (to 3 mm across) gemmy blue-grey Fluorapatite crystals that is most prominent, along with a couple of really interesting rare white octahedral Fluorite crystals, the largest being 8 mm across. A rare and fascinating Cornish classic. Ex Malcolm Southwood Collection, no. MS 2003.001.
