Smoky Quartz, Fluorite
Smoky quartz and fluorite, 11.7 cm, from the Full House Pocket, Sierra Blanca, Lincoln County, New Mexico. Fluorite combinations are extremely rare from this locality, and maybe only a half-dozen fine combos are known. This one came from the same area as “The Porcupine” but I had left it behind because I didn’t have any more room in my backpack. When I returned on my second trip I was shocked to see that rain had washed away the dirt, exposing the fluorite. It was the first specimen to go into my pack on that second trip!
