Smoky Quartz
Smoky quartz "The Porcupine," 13.8 cm, from the Full House Pocket, Sierra Blanca, Lincoln County, New Mexico; collected with Jerry Simmons. My dad and I spent a lot of time at this locality before it was closed off to collecting. This particular pocket stretched back into the mountain for almost 3 meters and produced hundreds of clusters of exceptional quality. This specimen was protected from pocket collapse under a small ledge and came out in near perfect shape. Philip Simmons collection; Jeff Scovil photo.
