Pseudomalachite, Chrysocolla
Pseudomalachite on chrysocolla, 6 cm, from the Mt. Glorious mine, Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia. Rediscovered by the collector during weekend trips into the bush while living in Mt. Isa, Queensland. The chrysocolla included sky-blue botryoidal specimens sometimes with an unusual green “malachite” coating, which later proved to be pseudomalachite. This is one of the nicest small pieces collected; the largest is around 25 cm. Photograph by Jeff Scovil.
