Sieleckiite, Libethenite, Variscite
Sieleckiite spherules about 0.2 mm across associated with libethenite (green) and variscite (colorless), from the Mt. Oxide mine, Northwest Queensland, Australia. While searching the dumps of an abandoned copper mine, I broke open a large boulder and saw this vivid blue material on the newly exposed face. The color and associated minerals seemed so unusual that I immediately sent some to Dr. Bill Birch at the Museums Victoria for identification. Eureka! It proved to be a new mineral.
