Gypsum, 6 cm, from Ellsworth, Ohio. This was my first solo field trip (in 1953) to a location near where I lived, in search of a specific species. Ellsworth is a Dana location. After hiking along the creek bed (in what I soon learned was poison ivy!) I found the hillside with these gypsum crystals embedded in gray mud. This one was a nice twin; it was essentially my first self-collected piece with any merit! Photo: Jeff Scovil.
