Amethyst crystal group, 11 cm, from the Goboboseb Mountains, about 35 miles west of the town of Brandberg, Daures Constituency, Erongo Region, Namibia. The occurrence was discovered in the early 1950s by Gawie Cloete, an assistant government livestock inspector. He returned to the area 30 years later, found a crystal-bearing horizon in the hard basalt, and filed a claim. Forever Collection; Tom Spann photo. Reference: Bezing et al. (2014).
