At 10.5 cm tall and with an intense raspberry red/pink colour this individual off-matrix terminated prismatic Elbaite (var. Rubellite) tourmaline from Coronel Murta in Minas Gerais state, Brazil is very much a statement specimen, perfect for grabbing attention. It has a flat, pinacoid termination, which has very slight nibbling around the edges and a small white Quartz crystal protrudes out from one side lower down the prism. Ordinarily, a crystal of this size and colour would be priced significantly higher, but this has 3 recorded repairs. Some collectors don't mind repairs, others hate them, and that is everyone's choice, but this does at least give collectors the option of owning a big, showy, colourful tourmaline at a more reasonable price point. The repairs are always carried out extremely well.
