Rosasite on Smithsonite
Unknown Owner
Silver Bill mine at Gleeson, in Turquoise District, Cochise Co., Arizona has produced some of the finest crystallized Rosasite in the US, but also in the world. This superb miniature-sized specimen comes specifically from the 'Copper Stope' at Silver Bill mine and shows a lovely combination of blue-green crystallized Rosasite surrounded by white Smithsonite in this carbonate-dominated assemblage. The Rosasite forms finely crystallized velvety coatings and small sprays, with one spherical aggregate towards one edge of the sample showing a brown core with Rosasite coating the surface. A really rich example of this usually unusual zinc-copper species.
