This wonderful miniature plate of Dioptase on Calcite from Tsumeb mine features a well-balanced spread of four perfect individual rhombic prisms of intensely gemmy deep emerald-green Dioptase crystals and one superb complex twinned crystal, all upon a thick bed of Calcite coated with pale cream coloured crystallized Calcite. The largest of the individual Dioptase crystals reaches 7 mm in length which it not especially large for the species, but it is the aesthetics and perfection in quality here that creates the significance to this piece. All of these Dioptase crystals are stunning examples of perfection in crystal form, and with the contrasting pale coloured backdrop they stand out magnificently. Ex Weyand Collection.
