There is something innately special about Native Silver specimens from the famous mines at Kongsberg (King's Mountain), Buskerud, Norway and their popularity seems to grow with each generation of collector. Spectacular thick wires of Native Silver are perhaps their most iconic form from Kongsberg, but we should not forget the other amazing crystallizations. This remarkable specimen, at 9.2 cm in length, is not only quite large, but presents a rather unusual form, with Native Silver showing many rhombic casts after Calcite/Dolomite, some of which remains intact, but with other crystals obviously having fallen out of their Native Silver host. Carbonates, including Calcite, are well-known from Kongsberg, but are little seen in obviously rhombic form making this a very unusual piece. The Native Silver, as one would expect, shows a lovely historic surface patina and has some classic sharp hackly edges around the sides of the specimen.
