Although not specifically recorded as such, this specimen of Native Silver from Nieder-Beerbach, Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany is probably from Glasberg quarry where Native Silver and in particular the mercurian variety known as Kongsbergite were found during the 1970s. The Native Silver on this piece forms thin dull grey coatings on either side of a thin vein of a white bladed mineral which by its density is assumed to be Baryte. This piece will certainly not win any competitions for its beauty, but is from an interesting German Native Silver occurrence nevertheless. It comes from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021).
