Any Native Silver specimen from Kongsberg immediately peaks one's interest, such is the allure of that iconic location in Norway. This particular specimen might not shine out as immediately rich in Native Silver but if if one looks carefully the surface, which consists of a box-work of Quartz (or perhaps Calcite), is riddled with dendrites of Native Silver, but they are all heavily tarnished with a dull black coating. It is nevertheless quite rich, and is unusual in presenting the Native Silver upon host rock, which in this case is a dark coloured schist containing what looks like small garnet crystals. Ex David Hardman Collection, no. 3448.
