The association of gemmy, emerald-green individual Dioptase crystals spaced out upon a contrasting cream coloured Dolomite matrix is classic Tsumeb mine, and at small cabinet size this piece displays this very well. The individual Dioptase crystals range from 8 mm in length at their longest down to 2 to 3 mm but it is the fact that many display all round due to their spread-out distribution which is so pleasing on this piece. The Dolomite too, is not simply a cream coloured massive matrix, but it has a fine layer of sharp rhombic microcrystals upon which the Dioptase sits. Ex Hettrich Collection.
