Long well-known for excellent large crystals of Cuprite showing partial (surface) replacement by Malachite this miniature-sized individual crystal from Ogonja (Onganja), Windhoek District, Khomas Region, Namibia is absolutely stunning. At 3 cm across it is big for a Cuprite crystal, from anywhere, but just look at that patternation where the octahedral form has crossed with the cubic form to produce a 'cross' effect when viewed from the side. Matt green in colour, it is likely that this layer of Malachite is very thin. This really is a very large and fine individual Cuprite crystal from this extremely important locality. Front-on it is in perfect condition and with perfect appearance. Ex Kessler Collection this is probably several decades old, if not more.
