This is a classic older Berbes Mining District Fluorite from Asturias in northern Spain. It shows the famous mid purple to plum coloured cubic crystals upon finely crystallized white Quartz which makes for an attractive balance. The Fluorite crystals are not all individuals, but are, even in small groups, dispersed enough to provide plenty of contrast with the white Quartz matrix. The largest Fluorite crystal reaches 1.5 cm on edge but most are around 1 cm across and several display internal zonation from pale to darker purple and complex 'stepping' on their surfaces where the edges of the crystals appear to have epitaxial growth. Ex Martin Kershaw Collection.
