Baryte
A great specimen featuring a cluster of light amber-yellow, lustrous, translucent to transparent, baryte crystal from the Twin Creeks Mine in Nevada. This mine is famous for orpiment and gold), but there was also a small find of these elegant baryte crystals, which we seldom see any more. There are several crystals in this group all standing vertically that are tabular with broad prism faces on the front and thinner ones on the side that taper to chisel-point terminations. The lovely amber-yellow crystals are from 1.5 to 6.4 cm in height and vary from translucent in the central area to transparent on the edges with the large crystal being almost totally transparent. This was an unusual find from this mine back in the late 1990s mining here. In excellent condition, and unusually good for this rare locale.
