Quartz var. Amethyst (scepter)
This sharp and well-developed scepter of amethyst on quartz is from one of the most famous, classic, and unique finds in American mineral collecting, from 1985. Today, they are very hard to come by and we only see them as generational collections come to market, with 1-2 in each of the collections built in that era. I have seen many miniatures, a few larger still, but this is a superb, well-balanced specimen with very fine geometric quality, although not the best color. It is a very representative miniature of this rare find: from a seaside cliff area about to collapse into the ocean in Rhode Island. Since it came out, this has been living in the specialized quartz collection case of Bill Larson at his store, The Collector. The quartz collection was built since the late 1970s and remained intact until I bought this unique and varied quartz collection in 2020.
