A pristine example of the cherry-red rhodochrosite crystals that set the mineral world on fire when they came out in the early 1980s. This was a small zone in a huge manganese mine, and this quality has not been found before nor since, despite movement of huge tonnage of ore. They are legendary classics of the mineral world. This large-thumbnail specimen is unusual in that it is both a fine cluster (whereas most are singles); and because the tips are pristine when most show small damage. it is unusually fine, gemmy, and clean. This came in a small collection, as any must; and they are only recycled to market now on generational time scales as collections sell intact.
