A matched set of some of the most rare Southwest USA copper mineral lapidary material you could ask for; and specimen quality as well. Bagdad Mine carving material of this quality was always rare, and likely dates to the 1960s for specimens such as this. It was once in vogue, but is now so rare that it is a collectors stone, and seldom used for jewelry anymore. These slices are the best possible quality, showing both banding with color; and a clean zone of quartz in the middle where the quartz infused through the copper minerals (and hardened them), and out the other side into clear space within the pocket. The entire piece is translucent, pure blue of the best and deepest color saturation. This is what they call "gem" silica: It is a mix of chrysocolla and silica which has infused into it, giving it the hardness of quartz, which is why it takes a polish. Specimens of this size, this quality...they are literally unheard of in this day and age. Aside from their beauty to any collector, a set like this would be particularly worthy of any Arizona collection, and I hope it is preserved as a set.
