Argentina is the only place in the world with such large growths of rhodochrosite, in elongated stalactites that grow together to form fanciful arrangements. When sliced, we see the beautiful patterns within. The translucency and color make these vibrant additions to any mineral specimen showcase. This large and beautiful slice section is from the famous large find in the 1980s, that is still the best quality found to date for this style of multiple connected stalactites. This material is no longer available on the contemporary market, and large pieces with this many interconnected stalactite sections are hard to come by. Expertly polished by rhodochrosite carving specialist Paul Cory of Iteco in the 1980s, and held back in a dealer's inventory until now. 131 grams.
