A mesmerizing large slice of rhodochrosite, showing concentric bands and patterns of formation with slight and subtle color variations. The more you look, the more complexity you see! The translucency and color make these historic argentine rhodochrosite specimens, all cut as slices out of large stalactitic formations pulled from the mine, vibrant additions to any mineral specimen showcase. This is old material, not often seen on the market, which was all cut and processed in the 1980s-1990s; although the most complicated sections like this are on the older end of those finds. This slice was perfectly, expertly polished by Paul Cory of Iteco in the 1980s, when he was the leading specialist in the USA for the finest polish and preparation of this material. 389 grams.
