Fluorite
This small cabinet-sized Fluorite is one of just a small number of the most exceptional quality found on the 75 level in Josefa-Veneros vein, Collada mine, Siero, Asturias, Spain. The pocket from where it was found produced large cubic crystals of the most magnificent form, with complex modified (bevelled, or chauffeured) edges. Of these, all are purple in colour, but very few reach the pinnacle of beauty seen in this piece, where the crystals, which reach 2.8 cm on edge, display wonderful zonation in colour, from blue-purple within their core and through their smooth glassy sides, to matt darker purple along their crazed bevelled edges. With backlighting this piece looks truly exceptional and the centres of these crystals light up with stunning internal flashes of brightness. A simply beautiful Spanish Fluorite of the highest class and it comes with a custom-made acryllic stand for display.
