How often do you see prominent large twinned Fluorite crystals from Germany? And, how many have the additional benefit of being attractively positioned on matrix? This stunner comes from Halsbrücke, north of the famous mining town of Freiberg in Saxony, Germany. The main crystal reaches an impressive 3.1 cm on edge, but not only that, it is glassy with a rather fetching pale plum colour. Being transparent, the smaller twin crystal can be seen internally which provides a very unusual and fascinating view, along with its other internal reflections. Other small Fluorite crystals sit alongside the large twin, coating the upper surface of the specimen. The main twinned crystal has very slight chipping to one corner and part of the rear of the crystal is cleaved off where the matrix has been trimmed, but this is not visible when on display. The back of the specimen appears to be compact banded Baryte. A really stunning German Fluorite, full of unique character.
