This exceptionally large individual cubic crystal of Fluorite, off matrix, comes from the famous Clara Mine in the Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Renowned for its diversity of species, some extremely rare, this Fluorite ably demonstrates that it is not just the tiny, colourful, secondary species for which Clara should be treasured, but for its wonderfully crystallized primary mineralization too. Fluorite from Clara mine is known in a number of different colours but the classic one is frosted colourless to white as presented by this cabinet piece. At over 12 cm on edge, this is an impressive cubic crystal and with three main faces in excellent condition it displays very nicely indeed. Its three main edges on display show only the very minutest of nibbles, but otherwise it is immaculate and enhanced by a subtle hint of orange-red inclusions around the rear edges of the crystal. Ex Hettrich Collection.
