The Sarentino Valley in South Tyrol was formerly part of Austria (pre-1918) but is now in northern Italy. Although not specifically labelled as such, the most likely source of this specimen is the Corvara mine which was mined during the 20th century for optical-grade Fluorite. Small cabinet in size, this fine specimen from Arvid Pasto's Collection features extremely clear, colourless crystals of cubic Fluorite with the crystals stepped one upon the other. There is some slight localized internal inclusions to the Fluorite, but large areas of the crystals are completely transparent, showing their purity. The largest crystal, seen at the top, has a very slight nick to one of its corners but overall the quality of the crystals is excellent and the largest reaches nearly 2 cm in length along its longest edge. A very high quality Italian Fluorite.
