This large and very display worthy Fluorite is recorded as from the famous Vignola mine in Trento Province, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy, but a very old (probably late 19th century) accompanying label states "Val Lugano, Tirolo" which adds intrigue to it. With a fine-grained Quartz matrix the really well-formed cubes of Fluorite are draped over one edge, a little bit like a ridge. Although not brightly coloured, the Fluorite crystals show superb zonation in colour and are quite glassy too, with an unusual green glow from within. It is certainly consistent with specimens from Vignola mine and is in really great condition for a display piece.
