Frohnau in the Annaberg District of Erzgebirge (the ore mountains), Saxony, Germany has long been known for its stunning intensely amber colour Fluorite crystals and this large miniature specimen exemplifies that. It might not be as large as some of the other Fluorite specimens produced in Saxony, or elsewhere, but it has a certain air of class, and really does stand out. Its arrangement of large (to over 2 cm on edge) intergrown cubic crystals just asks to be displayed, and with good lighting their strong glassy lustre, great translucency and rich body colour shines through. The crystals are really well formed cubes which are free from damage and some present a lovely thin bevelled edge which adds significantly to its character. A very special German Fluorite from one of the all-time classic localities.
