This pretty Quartz-Fluorite combo is from the famous Clara mine at Rankach Valley, Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Renowned for its exceptional diversity and variety of mineral species, it is sometimes the more basic species which produce the most attractive display pieces. The basis for this fine specimen is a bed of nicely crystallized cream coloured Quartz with undulating cavities lined with bright terminated crystals. Sparsely scattered over this Quartz are individual cubes of colourless Fluorite (to 1 cm on edge), but within these is a subtle shift in colour, producing a thin darker line of purple zonation just inside the outer edge of each crystal. This really is a very nice characterful specimen for this such famous of mines.
