A small but classic Fluorite from the Swiss Alps. The attraction of pink Fluorite is obvious, but this is not only down to its unusual colour, but also the fact that these crystals come from the high alpine mountains and so are difficult to find and collect. Göscheneralp in Uri, Switzerland is certainly one of the most famous localities for this classic. This thumbnail specimen is an off-matrix, classic, frosted pink octahedral crystal. It is missing part of its rear faces from where it was detached from matrix during collecting, but it presents a perfect pyramidal termination from one side of the octahedra. Ex Arvid Pasto Collection.
