This beautiful fluorite specimen from the Clara mine in Germany impresses with its translucency and fascinating blue zoning. The clearly structured crystals and the delicate colors make this piece an eye-catcher and a highlight of any mineral collection.
Origin and geology
The Clara mine is known for its exceptional fluorite finds and has made a name for itself among collectors worldwide. The area encompasses many old tunnels, the former open-cast mines and today's actual Clara pit, which is accessed via two mouth holes. Barite and ores were once mined, which were transported down into the valley by cable car.
Next to barite, the most sought-after mineral in the Clara mine is fluorite. Numerous shapes, excellent quality, lush crystal sizes and the attractive combinations with other minerals make it a very appealing mineral.
