Schorl
Not often are excellent Schorl specimens found in Santa Cruz, but the occasional specimen forms as tightly-bundled sprays of prismatic crystals that have a highly unusual velvety texture and luster. This particular specimen shows an entire forest of these piercing-black Schorl clusters strewn across the top side of a highly contrasting Quartz matrix. The areas of the matrix not covered by the larger sprays are interspersed with smaller Schorl crystals that cover the piece as if it was dusted with a layer of dark mineralogical confetti. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
