#00650Rhodochrosite with Tetrahedrite and Fluorite

“Tetrahedrite Raise”, Sweet Home Mine, Mount Bross, Alma Mining District, Park County, Colorado, USA 9.7 x 8.2 x 7.6 cm With the original intentions of being a Silver production site in the early 1870s, the mine took quite a turn when Bryan and Kathryn Lees took over the production of the locality in 1991 with the consistent discovery of spectacular Rhodochrosites. Rhodochrosite is often viewed as a “grail” mineral by many, and it is typically a goal of many collectors to own a fantastic example. This specimen exhibits the most desirable of qualities, with bright color and luster, complimented with very odd and rare spherical Tetrahedrites, and even a green Fluorite cube. Typically, Fluorite associations with Rhodochrosite from Colorado are a blue/purple hue, and usually show a modified growth habit. This specimen shows small, consistent, cubic Fluorite associations, with one, bright green, cubic Fluorite crystal.
