Calcite - Elmwood Mine

Size: 14 x 14 x 8 cm

Location: Elmwood Mine - Smith Co. - Tennessee - USA

incl. in-house made custom base

This piece combines size, presence and elegance in a single specimen - an aesthetically almost perfect calcite twin from the world-famous Elmwood mine. From its strong, translucent base to the clear, golden yellow tips, a spectacular color gradient runs through it, reminiscent of liquid light. The twin growth gives the piece an additional, almost symmetrical dynamic - like two dancing flames growing from one source.

Calcite twin - symmetry with character

Twin growth in calcite occurs when two crystals develop along a common crystal axis. In this case, the result is a clearly defined double crystal with harmonious geometry. The surface at the twin plane often shows very fine differences in reflection and structure, which gives the piece a subtle movement.

Color gradient - from calm white to luminous gold

The base of this calcite is whitish, translucent, with a soft play of light in a diffuse glow. Towards the top, the color intensifies significantly: a clear, golden tone emerges - warm, rich and at the same time impressively transparent. Especially when illuminated, the tips look like shining glass. This interplay of opacity and clarity creates an almost meditative effect.

Texture & light - a stage for reflection

The crystal itself has a smooth to slightly textured surface that catches the light in a variety of ways. Exciting reflections are created at the tips in particular, revealing golden surfaces or fine inner lines depending on the incidence of light. The combination of natural geometry and optical effect makes this piece a perfect example of the sculptural power of minerals.

Presentation at the highest level

For a stylish presentation, we manufactured a custom-fit base in-house from high-quality acrylic glass, which raises the piece slightly and balances it perfectly. The engraving on the front discreetly refers to the origin: Elmwood Mine, Tennessee, USA - a seal of quality.

Elmwood Mine - famous for calcite

The Elmwood Mine is a well-known site for calcite. This piece is representative of what the mine has to offer - a crystal that impresses not only geologically but also aesthetically.

A highlight of any collection - powerful, luminous, unique

This calcite twin is more than just a mineral - it is a work of art. Ideal for a central position in a collection, a display case or even as a sculptural object in a stylish room. It appeals to both collectors and design enthusiasts who appreciate the magic of natural forms in perfect form.
