Tourmaline is a semiprecious gem, whose “Blue Cap” specimens from California are revered for their signature blue tops. Of the 32 examples recovered from the Blue Cap pocket, only a handful have matrix. This sizeable specimen is exceptional, with its cranberry red color and prized blue cap. It is singularly one of the most important mineralogical objects in the world.
