Quartz var. Amethyst
Guerrero is famous for its highly appreciated amethysts of fine quality. I have seen a lot of clusters in the past, while really nice pieces are pretty rare though, especially when it comes to matrix specimens like this. The interaction of the purple amethyst and the beautiful yellow-brown matrix is unbelievable on this specimen. The amethyst is furiously shooting out in all directions, what makes the piece very 3-dimensional and showy also from the sides. The piece is in a very good condition, while one of the crystals has a damage worth to mention, but luckily pointed to the back and not visible from the front side therefore. As there are many main crystals on that piece, this is fully accaptable. It was in the collection of the University of Arizona in Tucson for many years! They have a very fine selection of amethysts, but this piece is the best specimen on matrix I have seen there. Really stunning and sweet!
