Description

The commonest of minerals of can form some of the most aesthetic specimens; this Fluorite with Pyrite certainly supports this case! Tiny cubic crystals of highly reflective golden Pyrite form drusy areas over a light sea green composite Fluorite octahedral crystal from Pasto Bueno in the Pampas District of Ancash Department, Peru. This is the locality where the large complex of mine buildings have been built into the steeply contoured valley sides, their faces nearing vertical on the higher margins. Although often quoted as if a single mine, Pasto Bueno is actually a mining district that includes the Huayllapon mine, the Huaura mine, and the Consuzo mine. This beautiful miniature is mounted on a clear, colourless acrylic base.
