Elbaite with Cleavelandite
Elbaite Tourmaline from Stak Nala in the Haramosh Mountains, northern Pakistan is extremely distinctive with its classic pale pink tips to dark green prisms along with their striking combination with rosettes, or fan-like sprays, of bright white platy Cleavelandite Feldspar crystals. The transition from green to pink within the Elbaite is often rapid and in this case almost instantaneous. This larger cabinet specimen displays everything you could wish for in a classic Elbaite-Cleavelandite combo from Pakistan. Three very large prismatic Elbaite crystals penetrate through a large aggregate of platy Cleavelandite crystals. The longest Elbaite crystal is 11 cm in length, but is missing its upper termination and is therefore solely dark green. Its basal termination is complete and very fine. A second Elbaite is 8.3 cm in length and shows the dramatic transition into a pale pink tip, but half of the termination is missing, where a natural inclusion of another mineral has washed away. The third Elbaite crystal is 3.7 cm in length and excellent all round, with a lovely pale pink tip. There is some damage to the platy Cleavelandite crystals, but this is less noticable as a white mineral. For size, and presentation, this is a very lovely on-matrix Elbaite.
