Description
Large elongated crystals of Copper have formed a shapely fan-like dendritic piece on this aesthetic specimen from Isle Royale in Michigan. The complex crystals reach up to just over 4 cm in length are a mix of relatively bright copper-red and burnished-copper colors. They are sharp, but are a bit rough along the edges. The piece is elongate and the extended crystals are grouped in slightly divergent, extended clusters in a sculptural arborescent form that is appealing to the eye. This habit and mode of aggregation is a departure from the usual Native Copper specimens from the Michigan Copper Country. Isle Royale is a classic and very old locale. Accompanied by a Red Metal Minerals label (Les Tolonen, a prominent older Michigan dealer into the early 2000s).
