An absolutely beautiful and stunning gem Elbaite tourmaline from the gently rolling hills of the Barra do Salinas district, located in west Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil. This single, off-matrix specimen is an almost perfect crystal with vertical heavily striated prism faces leading to a stepped pyramidal Mercedes (triangular) termination. The real showstopper however is the colour. The crystal is highly translucent and, most probably, very gemmy internally beneath the outer surface. In sequence from base to termination the colour alternates thus: very dark green/black-sea green-lime-sea green-lime-pale sky blue-blush pink-pale sky blue-lime-rich leaf green. A Tourmaline with a superb aesthetics, mounted on a clear acrylic base.
