Description
Tintagel is not only famous for its medieval castle, for so long entwined with the legend of King Arthur, but also for its superb specimens from the adjacent Lanterdan quarry on the north coast of Cornwall, England. This locality has produced superb Quartz crystals and this large miniature is a fine example. Two terminated Quartz crystals, in parallel and conjoined growth, are attached to a little minor Albite and a pale olive-green chlorite matrix. The slightly larger Quartz crystal measures 6 cm tall and grades from a crazed translucent base to a transparent termination. The adjacent crystal is milkier and translucent throughout. Note the very tip of the larger crystal is very slightly chipped but does not distract in any way from this excellent and most pleasing Lanterdan specimen.
