Tourmaline group with Lepidolite and Albite var. Cleavelandite
A delicate and very attractive looking Tourmaline crystal, 5.5 cm long and roughly half-coated along its full length with tiny, sub-mm platy crystals of Lepidolite mica. From Virgem da Lapa in the Jequitinhonha valley of Minas Gerais, Brazil, the Tourmaline is a uniform limey mid bottle-green, highly translucent, with striated prism faces and a bright glassy lustre. The Lepidolite, although silver-white, appears an attractive light tan due to iron staining around the peripheral crystal edges. Near to the base, a single, colourless half-hexagonal crystal of Cleavelandite protrudes, this being the platy variety of Albite feldspar.
