Indicolite, the inky blue to electric blue variety of Elbaite, is one of the rarest and most beautiful of tourmalines. This magnificent 4.5 cm tall crystal from the pegmatites in Konar Province, Afghanistan presents a sumptuous display of dark to mid-blue Indicolite as a deeply striated individual three-sided pyramid terminated crystal with several smaller crystals attached in almost parallel growth (slightly divergent), on a small fragment of white Feldspar matrix and with further pale blue Indicolite protruding off at right angles near its base. The main Indicolite crystal is notably colour zoned, with the termination far more translucent than its base, producing a dramatic colour effect with backlighting. Small miniature in size, but massive in quality.
