Description
This beautiful interpenetrant twinned pair of octahedral, emerald-lime-green Fluorite crystals makes a fine miniature specimen, with a small, 1.5 cm, rod of coarse-grained, sugary, milky-white Quartz. From the fluorite occurrences at Riemvasmaak, Kakamas, Northern Cape, South Africa, a little-known locality close to the Augrabies Falls National Park and only about 30 km from the south-eastern corner of Namibia. The main display crystal is a distorted octahedron, measuring 3.9 x 2.8 x 2.5 cm, the latter being half the depth of the octahedron, to where the crystal has been detached from in-situ. Both crystals are semi-transparent and have crisp, sharp edges. The apex of the larger distorted crystal has a 'V'-shaped castellated rim. A great South African octahedral Fluorite.
Known provenanceKnowing where your specimen comes from and who owned it adds to its story and value. Good provenance helps prove it's authentic and preserves important details about its discovery.
