Description
Excellent silvery-golden crystals of Marcasite form a 2.4 x 2.4 x 2.1 cm matrixless cluster from Cap Blanc-Nez in France. Cap Blanc-Nez, situated 13 km west of the centre of Calais, is a coastal outcrop where the high chalk cliffs meet the English Channel. The Marcasite forms crisp, sharp-edged flattened pyramidal crystals to 1.6 cm on edge and up to 2 cm wide across opposite tips. The bright metallic faces exhibit linear growth patterns parallel to the edges, forming concentric bands across the specimen. A choice large thumbnail Marcasite from Cap Blanc-Nez in France.
