AUSTINITE
This Austinite, calcium-zinc arsenate, forms splendid spherical clusters averaging 1 cm diameter over a rusty-chocolate brown limonitic matrix from Ojuela mine at Mapimi in Mexico. The surface texture of the spheres is a sucrosic crystalline druse of individual crystals forming a frosted and sparkling lustre. The overall colour is lemony-grey to buff, yet when viewed close to, the Austinite appears more olive green-yellow. It's a terrific small cabinet specimen and comes with a Lidstrom's of Prineville label.
