This is a highly unusual, and older, Fluorite specimen from Naica, Mexico featuring sharply intergrown purple crystals to 3 cm on edge. This piece seems to have a relatively complex history in which the Fluorites started out as perfect cubes and then there was a sudden pocket rupture that that knocked this piece off and it was subsequently rehealed and parts of it etched! All of the crystals display a medium purple core with darker purple rims and most of them are cubes except one. The exception is a crystal that was probably the largest on the piece that was cleaved during the rupture process and then rehealed leaving what looks like a perfect crystal face. Another area on the bottom looks similar. Elsewhere on the piece, a couple of areas looks etched and consist of numerous cubes with a slightly rounded appearance. A pretty piece with a great historical value for the locality, which produced thousands of fluorites but only a few like this ! Ex. Chet Lemanski Fluorite collection.
