Calcite var. Cobaltian with Pyrite$650.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
Unique and compelling in several ways, this fine combination piece is from the well-known Bou Azzer mining district in Morocco. A small cabinet specimen, it builds from a central, two-sided plate of rich-pink, 3 mm Cobaltoan Calcites that transects the underlying matrix like a sail. On either side there are rounded clusters of Calcites, and intergrown with them are attractive Pyrite (unusual for the locale!) of varied habits and luster. Ranging up to 3 cm, these Pyrite crystals have either a bright, metallic luster or a rich, deep, golden patina. The larger have a micro-coating of a grey-black oxide or sulfide that adds even more character and interest. Displaying nicely from all 360 degrees, the contrasts in color and form create an engaging and pleasant aesthetic. I have seen few like this.
